Hi,
I was reading your post on:
http://www.sjbrown.co.uk/2004/10/16/spherical-harmonic-basis/
I’m doing some research in Computer Vision and using spherical harmonics for some stuff.
First of all, thanks for posting this.
Secondly, I think you have a small typo in the definition of Theta(theta). The Legendre polynomial should accept cos(theta) and not plain theta, just like you wrote in the next section where you describe the recursive definition of the Legendre polynomial.
Anyway, it’s just something small.
Have a good day,
Ofer

Hi Simon, one user of blenderartists.org draw attention to your work on your page. It would be nice if you have a look to the new render engine “Cycles” included in the open source 3d software Blender.
It is cuda and opencl based and advanced developer are always welcome to look in to code and may to participate in the development.
It would be nice if you have a look to the forum and tell us your opinion about cycles.

Thanks for the heads up about Cycles, but it’s a (much) bigger project than I’m looking for right now!
Edit: In case that seemed a bit terse, thanks very much for seeking me out to be a contributor, I’m very flattered. Currently I only have a very limited amount of time for offline rendering experiments, and it’s most efficient for me to do this in my own code. Cycles looks like a great project and I wish the developers all the best in their efforts.
